Where do I start with insulating my whole house?
Home insulation in Glendale means putting insulating material in your attic, your walls and the floor over the crawl space, so your house holds its temperature and stays quieter inside.
Most people call because upstairs is hot by afternoon, the room over the garage never feels right or the power bill keeps climbing, and they can't tell whether the fix is the attic insulation, the walls or what's underneath. The price turns on how big the house is, how many inches are already up there, whether that old material has to come out first, how many gaps need sealing and how easy each space is to get into. The schedule turns on the same things, plus anything we find that has to be fixed before new insulation goes in. Your estimate lays out the work for your house in order with a price, so you can do it all at once or start where it counts most.
How we handle home insulation from start to finish
When you're not sure where to start, I walk the whole house with you, up in the attic, along the walls and under the floor, because the drafty bedroom might be a wall problem and cold floors usually come from below. Before anything new goes in, we check that the old material isn't soaked or full of droppings, since covering it just buries the problem. Then we do the air sealing, which means closing the gaps around can lights, pipes and the attic hatch, so the new insulation isn't fighting a draft. After that we lay the insulation as deep at the edges as in the middle and keep the eave vents clear so the attic can still breathe. On most attics, sealing the gaps and topping up with blown-in insulation, loose fill blown through a hose, is a better buy than spray foam. If your ductwork runs through the attic, though, foam starts to earn its higher price, because it seals air while it insulates.
Some houses need work around the insulation itself. If the old fiberglass or loose fill up there is wet, moldy or packed with droppings, our insulation removal clears it out so the new layer starts clean. When the cold is coming up through the floor, crawl space insulation under the house is usually where your money does the most good.
What California's rules and Glendale's climate mean for home insulation
California's Energy Code covers changes to existing houses, not just new homes and additions, so insulating an older Glendale house isn't outside the state's energy rules. One energy consultant places Glendale in the state's climate zone for the inland LA basin and foothills. It says that zone holds a house's shell, the roof, walls and floors between you and the weather, to tighter baselines than the coast. We keep that in mind when we plan what goes into your attic, walls and floor.
We're based in Glendale and work in the cities around it, from the foothills out across the San Gabriel Valley. Much of what we see is older houses with thin, settled insulation and raised floors over a crawl space, and we find the same on jobs in La Crescenta-Montrose and Pasadena.

What happens after you call about home insulation in Glendale?
Call and talk it over
Most of the time I pick up myself, and we set a time for me to come out. Tell me what's bugging you, whether it's the hot upstairs or the cold floors, so I know where to look first.
I look and explain everything
I go up in the attic and under the house with a flashlight and show you what I find before I write anything down. Then you get an estimate that puts the work in a sensible order with its price, so you can decide what to do now and what can wait.
Our crew does the work
Our crew lead and installers handle the job, working from the plan you and I went over together. Nothing gets added that you haven't agreed to.
We check it over together
Before we pack up, I come back and look the work over with you, attic and all. If something doesn't look right to either of us, we talk it through right then.
Why Glendale homeowners call WeatherFit Glendale Insulation Company for home insulation
The owner comes out, not a salesman
I write every estimate myself after crawling into the attic and under the floor, instead of guessing from the driveway. You hear what's really going on from the person who answers for the work.
Learned the trade from my dad
I grew up crawling through attics with my dad, and I started this business in Glendale in 2021. He taught me that insulation is the job nobody sees but the family lives with every day.
Licensed and insured on every job
We're licensed and insured, and you're welcome to ask about either before we start. That way you aren't the one holding the risk while our crew is working in your attic.
A safe house, only needed work
Many of our calls come from older Glendale houses and people who just bought one, so I check that a house will still be safe once we tighten it up, and I'll tell you when something isn't worth paying for. Your satisfaction, guaranteed.
If you're not sure where to start, a walk-through is the easiest first step, so send us a note or give us a call.

We'll get back to you within one business day to set a time, and I'll come out to look at your attic, walls and the space under the house before I write up your free on-site estimate. There's no pressure to book.

Questions about home insulation in Glendale
How much does attic insulation cost in the Los Angeles area?
Attic insulation in the Los Angeles area usually costs about $1,600 to $5,300 per job, and that's the going range in the area, not our price. Where your attic lands depends on its size, how much old material has to come out and how much sealing it needs. I'll give you your own number after I've been up there.
Who is allowed to install insulation in California?
A contractor licensed by the California Contractors State License Board, or CSLB, which has a license class for insulation work. The state requires a licensed contractor when a job costs $1,000 or more in labor and materials or uses extra workers. Ask any contractor you're considering whether they hold that license.
What is the best way to deal with vermiculite insulation in my attic?
Leave it alone, because the EPA says disturbing vermiculite can release asbestos fibers that are harmful to breathe. It's a pebbly, pour-in fill, usually gray-brown or silver-gold, and you can compare yours with the EPA's photos without touching it. If you decide to have it removed, the EPA says a trained, accredited asbestos abatement contractor should do it, separate from whoever looked at it, and in California that contractor has to be certified by the board, so we won't disturb it.
What needs to be fixed in the attic before adding insulation?
Wet insulation, moldy or rotted rafters and an attic with little ventilation should be fixed by a professional before new insulation goes in, according to ENERGY STAR. Its list also includes knob and tube wiring from before 1930, which can be a fire hazard when insulation touches it. I look for all of these at the estimate and tell you what I find.
How do I make sure my gas appliances stay safe after air sealing?
Have your gas or oil appliances tested to confirm they vent their exhaust properly, both before and after the sealing, which ENERGY STAR suggests having a home performance contractor do. Sealing a house can sometimes make an appliance send combustion gases back inside. I ask about your appliances at the estimate so the plan accounts for them.
Do recessed lights need anything before insulation goes over them in a Glendale attic?
They do if they aren't labeled and rated both airtight and for contact with insulation, according to one insulation maker's install guide. Lights without that label need an approved cover, following the light maker's recommendation. I check the labels on your can lights when I'm up in the attic.
Other work that often goes with it
Insulation removal
Damaged, dirty or rodent-soiled insulation has to come out before a fresh layer can do its job.
Crawl space insulation
Cold floors in a raised house usually mean the space underneath needs insulating more than the attic does.
